Lion Angels Add to WBB history with Conference Championship

Lancaster, CA; In a thrilling showdown in the Southwestern States Intercollegiate Conference tournament championship, Bethesda University's Lion Angels staged an impressive comeback against the regular season champions, Lincoln University, clinching a tight 75-72 victory. The game, marked by numerous lead changes, saw Bethesda take an early lead in the first half, only to have Lincoln surge ahead by 15 points in the final quarter.

Despite the daunting deficit, the Lion Angels rallied fiercely, ultimately prevailing with a 3-point edge. The standout performance of Regular Season Player of the Year and Conference MVP, Anna Neely, who led all scorers with 26 points, was complemented by center Najharae Young's sensational double-double effort, amassing 11 points, 19 rebounds, and 2 blocks.

Additionally, Alex Buckley and Shyann Morreo, combined for 29 points. Danielle Roberts and Morreo, also chipped in 8 rebounds a piece, further propelling Bethesda towards victory. The bench, was extremely critical to the success of the team as their constant cheering and unwavering support provided a shot of much needed adrenalin to the exhausted Lion Angels.

Under the guidance of first-year head coach Demetris Harris and assistant Aaron Perez, the Lion Angels have added to the history of the women’s basketball program with the 2023-24 SWS conference tournament championship.
