Women's Basketball Season Recap

The 2019-20 Season was a season that saw the Bethesda Women's Basketball team grow and persevere through a 30 game season resiliently, giving their all to become better each day than they were the day before. The Bethesda Flames' biggest challenge was the size of their roster, throughout much us the season the B.U. Flames played with an eight-player roster, due to injuries and eligibility issues from several potential recruits, the Flames were counting on to fill out the roster this season. Bethesda returners included: Forward, Lauryn Dodd, a senior who had seen major minutes in the 18-19 season, along with her Junior College teammate Kristina Brown. Both were transfers from L.A. Harbor College. Another returner who redshirted last year was redshirt Freshman Martha Angol. Martha was a very versatile player who was able to play then 1-5 positions.

The Flames received a huge boost from incoming transfer and NCCAA All-West Region First Team player Tanika Stephenson, who averaged almost 16 ppg. She was joined by Junior College transfer Megan Burt who served mainly in the off guard position. The Bethesda Flames also had some help from Junior college transfer Antoinette Dorsey and incoming Freshman Jocelyn Daw. However, the biggest form of help came from Jr. transfer Denshay Wallace, who was one of the region's top rebounders. The Flames look to return a strong nucleus heading into the 2020-21 season, combined with a potentially strong recruiting class. The Flames will strengthen its reserves and add a fresh new look with recruits that are local, throughout the state, and in the region as well.
