Flames Lose Slugfest

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - It was an offensive battle Tuesday between Bethesda and The Masters, and the Flames were on the short end losing 9-7. Both teams recorded 12 hits in the contest.

The Flames were quiet early going nine up and nine down through the first three innings  and dug themselves into a 4-0 deficit.

They added one back in the fourth when Nathan Munoz scored from third on a pickoff attempt at first, but they would leave the bases loaded in the frame.

In the fifth, Nathan Munoz ripped a two out single into left. Then, Alex Rodriguez drilled a no doubt two-run home run to left to cut the deficit to 4-3.

The Mustangs would add three more in the sixth, but it would not take long for the Flames to respond.

In the seventh, the Flames would load the bases with an Alex Rodriguez walk, and two singles from Daniel Arellano and Adrian Flores. Mario Gonzalez singled to left driving in one and Ivan Galindo was hit by a pitch to score another making it 7-5. Raul Abundis drilled a single to left-center scoring two and tying the game.

The Mustangs would add two more in the eighth to take the lead for good.

Adrian Flores (4-5, one run scored), Daniel Arellano (2-5, one run scored), and Raul Abundis (2-5, two runs batted in) led the way offensively for the Flames.

Bethesda is 19-16 on the year and travel to Poway High School tomorrow to take on St. Katherine's.
