Leopards Extinguish Flames

La Verne, CA - The University of La Verne hosted Bethesda University for this afternoon's non-conference matchup. The Leopards looked to uphold their winning streak by taking a break from conference play this weekend.

La Verne jumped out to a wide lead early. The first quarter ended with a 41-5 in favor of the Leopards. The Lady Flames showed more confidence as the game progressed. However, the Leopards maintained dominance and won 107-56.

La Verne was given a boost by the bench play, having four players in double-digit scoring. Brianna Torres had 16 points and 8 rebounds, as well as Casey Kuramato adding five, three point baskets. All twenty active players saw action tonight for the Leopards.

Coach Pruitt spoke about staying competitive, "I told our team just show up every day and be ready for whatever is to come. You never really know what to expect. It's just being ready — you never want that to be why you don't perform well. So, not allowing that to be an excuse. It's just a challenge for us with anything. We have a lot of ladies that are ready to play and compete for minutes. We built the team that way, and each game will be different for us. There are players who are clearly in the rotation daily, and then there are players who will be game-by-game. It was just one of those games where I thought it would be good to rest certain players. We will get back in the gym on Monday and prepare for Occidental. It's always a tough place to play. We just thank God that both teams where able to compete and stay injury free tonight".

The Leopards next match will be on the road vs. Occidental College Wednesday, January 18, at 7 P.M
