Flames Win Final Game Of The 2019 Season

Flames Win Final Game Of The 2019 Season

The Flames record was 6-7 before today's and it was a must-win in order to have a .500 record to qualify for the playoffs. The Flames could feel the pressure of winning today's game. However, the Flames were confident that they would do anything it took to get the victory today. The team took an early lead as St. Katherine's goalie made a mistake and passed the ball directly to our midfielder, Felipe Assis, who did well to take advantage of the mistake and capitalized by scoring a strike pass the goalie to take a 1-0 lead at the 13:46. Late in the 1st half, St. Katherine's striker made a beautiful goal at the 42:49 to equalize the score before the half. The Flames kept pressing forward as they finally got an opportunity when St. Katherine committed a foul on our half of the pitch. Eriel Almada made a beautiful cross to Rodrigo Pereira who scored a header to give the Flames the 2-1 lead.

The Flames are now in position to make the playoffs with a .500 record. However, Ottowa University is currently ranked the highest in the West Region. If they choose to go to the NCCAA National Playoffs, they would be the representative for the West Region. However, if Ottowa makes the NAIA playoffs, they will most likely not represent the West Region of NCCAA for the National Playoffs. The Flames last bet is to go in as an At-Large Berth and hope to make it in.
