The Flames Finish Their First Week With Overall 2-1

ANAHEIM, Calif. - With a new head coach in charge, the Flames have concluded the first week of the regular season with overall score 2-1, giving the game to Vanguard on August 22, 2017 and taking two wins, from Arizona Christian University on August 24 with the final score 2-1 and and from La Sierra University on August 27 with the final score 3-2.

The final score of the game against Vanguard didn't reflect the work the Flames put in each minute on the field. The game was competetive throughout 90 minutes of the game. A Freshman, Renan Silva, saved over fifty percent of the shots in the first game of his college carreer. In the thirty-first minute of the game Diogo Pereira his and his team's first goal of the season. The first game of the season ended with a 4-1 loss to the Flames.

On August 24, the Flames traveled to Phoenix, AZ to compete against the NAIA Arizona Christian Univeristy. Head coach Ricardo Balderas decided to give another shot to the freshman goalie, Renan Silva, who proved his determination and focus on the game and saved eighty percent of the shots made on goal. The scorers of the night for the Flames were two freshmen, Thomas Santana and Eduardo Faria. After the game head coach Ricardo Balderas shared his satisfaction with the tema, saying: "This is the team we have been building, this is our family which will give us the strength!" The final score of the game was 2-1.

Last night the Flames competed against La Sierra Golden Eagles. The goalie of the game was a freshamn, Yuri Mussi, who was entering his first game of the season with an obvious confidence saving good shots in crucial situations and according to the stats saved sixty-seven percent of the shots on goal. The scorers of the night for Flames were, a freshman Eduardo Faria with 2 goals and senior Cesar Pompa with a goal. The 1st half of the game ended 2-0 in Flames' favor, but in the second half the Golden Eagles tied the score five minuted before the end of the game. With 3 and a half minutes until the end of the game with the assist from Eduardo Faria, Cesar Pompa scored the winning goal and the game ended with a score 3-2 for the Flames. Even though head coach Ricardo Balderas was looking for a better outcome with less goals from the opponents, he was proud of the team's focus and the ability to break the tie at the very end of the game.
