The Flames Lead The Pacific Christian Athletic Conference After The Victory vs. Life Pacific Warriors

San Dimas, Calif. - The Bethesda Flames captured the top spot in the Pacific Christian Athletic Conference by beating the Life Pacific Warriors 89 – 76. This was a great win for the men's basketball team as they are poised to do well in the conference this season. The Flames used their height advantage not only to outscore the Warriors but also to outrebound them 59 – 33. "I am very proud of the effort our players put forth in this game. The team and I have been through a lot this season so rebounding from our struggles felt really good" said men's basketball head coach Leo Balayon. The third year coach recently lost both parents to cancer and it showed in the performance of the team. "We had a rough season, especially with what I had to go through personally. It affected the way I coached and how I approached this season but I think that the players I have right now are all bought in and focused on doing everything they can to win conference for our school... and that's all I can ask from them" added Balayon. Bethesda was led by Michael Johnson's 22 points and Gabe Adersteg's 21. Three other Flames scored in double figures with Ray Rigby playing one of his best games of the season. The Bahamas native closed out the night with 14 points and 8 rebounds and 5 assists. The team resumes conference play next Thursday against West Coast Baptist College.
