RIVERSIDE --- Five Lancers scored in double figures on Friday, as California Baptist University's men's basketball team ran away with a 96-62 victory over Bethesda University.
The 34-point win marked the third-largest margin of victory on the season. The Lancers are now 13-5 on the year and hold a 10-1 record over the last 11 games. CBU is currently on a three-game winning streak and will jump back into Western Athletic Conference action next week against Chicago State and Kansas City. The Lancers will host Chicago State on Wednesday, Jan. 22, while the Roos make their way on Jan. 25.
Ferron Flavors Jr. finished his night with a team-high 21 points, going 8-14 from the field and 5-9 from beyond the arc. Omar Lo produced his first double-double of his career with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Brandon Boyd recorded 14 points, six rebounds, and six assists. De'jon Davis and Tre Armstrong were the final Lancers in double figures, as they each scored 12.
The game opened up with the hottest start of the season, as the Lancers grabbed a 20 point lead six minutes into the contest, 24-3.
The early dominance was a result from beyond the arc, as Flavors and Armstrong helped the Lancers score 15 of the first 24 points with the deep ball.
Defensively, the Lancers were too much for the Flames, holding the opposition to 27.6 percent from the field and 23.5 percent from the 3-point line. In fact, the Lancers didn't allow the Flames to get into double digits until the 6:47 mark, 38-11.
CBU ended the first half with nine threes and a 53-21 lead at the break. The 21 points by the Flames marked the fewest points allowed in a half by the Lancers on the year.
In the second half, the Lancers didn't allow the lead to get below 20 points as everyone started to contribute to the score.
The highlights started to pile up for the Lancers in the final 20 minutes, as Zach Pirog, Flavors, and Lo all threw down monster dunks.
Pirog's dunk came around the 14:00 minute mark after Acquaah placed a perfect ball for the alley-oop.
Flavors showed off his bounce with less than eight to play and got the crowd on its feet with a fast-break dunk.
Lo completed his double-double with an offensive board that led to a wide-open dunk in the paint.
